In 2016, CELPA’s members had a turnover of 2,538,000 Euros. This cluster created 90 thousand direct, indirect and induced jobs. These numbers are testament to the sector’s strategic importance to the Portuguese economy and to the country as a whole.
Carlos Amaral Vieira, general director of CELPA, explains that the paper industry is founded on circular economic business model (reduction, reuse, recovery and recycling of materials and energy).
Next October, the skills acquired will be recognised by the ACT {Authority for Working Conditions} and DGERT {Directorate-General for Employment and Labour Relations}. This recognition will allow for the employees of companies which supply services to Altri Florestal to become qualified.
