Nowadays the concept of social responsibility is associated with the idea that managers must be accountable not just to shareholders but rather to all those who have a relationship with the company, namely its employees and workers.
“Think global, act local”. This could well be the motto for the latest project developed by Altri Florestal. By working closely with local authorities and other bodies, Altri wants to change mindsets about how communities and local stakeholders manage residual forest biomass. By creating biomass collection plants, the project contribute towards reducing the risk of forest fire, reducing invasive species and making use of biomass.
The Centro de Reabilitação e Integração Torrejano (CRIT) {The Torres Novas Rehabilitation and Integration Centre} promotes vocational courses for youngsters with disabilities and difficulties with social integration, who have left school. Within the remit of the partnership with Altri, many of these trainees contribute towards the industry’s reforestation projects.
