CELPA – The Paper Industry Association, and its members have for the first time developed an educational project to raise environmental awareness focused on the theme of the Circular Economy, taking the good practices employed by the pulp, paper and card industry as an example.
As part of the International Day of Forests, on 21st March, the Mission 360 – Saving the Earth is Our Role project took over 1,000 children and 100 teachers to the industry’s forest nurseries (where over 14 million forest plants of different species are grown every year), as well as to biodiversity stations, where different species of flora and fauna can be observed. Both pupils and teachers were invited to come and see the manufacturing processes for themselves, and to discover the model of circularity followed by the industry.
During the academic year 2018/19, the Mission 360 –Saving the Earth is Our Role project was implemented in more than 20 primary and secondary schools located in the boroughs of Aveiro, Constância, Figueira da Foz, Setúbal, Torres Novas, Viana do Castelo and Vila Velha de Ródão.
