There is room for improvement in controlling fires. In the case of Altri Florestal, such improvements will entail reinforcing specialist and more robust resources, with more forestry teams and better management of combustible material within its properties.<\/p>\n<p>Henk Feith, the production director at Altri Florestal, acknowledges some areas of improvement to be implemented at the company. One of these new requirements is to better understand and know how fires behave. At the end of November the company\u2019s four regional managers attended a four-day Fire Behaviour Strategic Analysis training course.<\/p>\n<p>Feith explains, \u201cWhen you\u2019re at the theatre of operations, you need a greater ability to interpret the \u00a0landscape and weather forecast in order to understand how the fire will behave.\u201d Rui Pires da Rosa, Altri Florestal\u2019s Regional Forest manager, explains that this course allows trainees to \u201canalyse the directions of the dominant winds in the area, which may not be the same as those in the country as a whole, and have knowledge of the local vegetation and air humidity\u201d. A estrutura de 2017 era composta por quatro brigadas duplas, que trabalhavam 12 horas sobre 12 horas e eram rendidas por novas brigadas. Esta realidade era suficiente para ocorr\u00eancias de pequena dimens\u00e3o. O aumento da incid\u00eancia de GIF ao longo da \u00e9poca mudou essa realidade, pois agora s\u00e3o precisas 24 ou 36 horas, pelo menos, para controlar uma situa\u00e7\u00e3o de grande dimens\u00e3o. Em 2017 houve um refor\u00e7o de quatro brigadas. Em 2018 essas equipas v\u00e3o aumentar para oito.
