In this edition we focus on Altri\u2019s commitment to building a brighter future. A good example of this is the Group\u2019s successful implementation of the Kaizen method at its industrial units, and the Growth Program for Altri High Potentials, designed to prepare the organisation\u2019s future leaders to face upcoming challenges. Our commitment to improving the proactive and professional management of the forest is set out in the article about the Clear and Fertilize programme. But this alone is not enough. We go beyond that, by guaranteeing the sustainability, biodiversity and preservation of habitats. This is in our DNA. The partnership agreement signed by Altri to appreciate and enhance the Mata Nacional and Serra do Bussaco forests is another example of how determined we are to make progress in this area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As well as\nthese initiatives which are already underway, we decided to create the \u201cAltri\nDiversity\u201d programme, which translates into fi ve main goals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 To double\nthe conservation area in ten years. Reaching 16 thousand hectares in\nconservation areas managed by Altri Florestal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 To\nproduce and plant 1 million native plants per year, in areas owned by the\ncompany and by third parties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 To extend\nthe network of biodiversity stations and \u2018biospots\u2019. Increasing to 10 the\nnumber of microreserves owned by the company, enabling these places to be\nshared with the community, and thereby generating actions to preserve and\nmonitor natural values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 To\nrestore ecosystems of great conservation value. Preserving the habitat of\nspecies which are under threat, by improving threatened riparian galleries, strengthening\nnative vegetation and removing invasive species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 To\nincorporate economically, socially and environmentally valuable activities into\nforest management. Developing honey, mushroom and medronho (arbutus fruit)\nproduction projects and nature tourism, amongst other things, together with local\npartners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
