Two new stations will be created this year, one at the Cabe\u00e7o Santo project in \u00c1gueda, where there is a partnership which has been collaborating for twelve years with a local association restoring the Belazaima stream; the other biodiversity station is located at the Parque Natural da Serra de S\u00e3o Mamede nature park, in an area called Palmeiro, right on the border with Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This location has been classified by Altri Florestal as being of high conservation value. The next steps will be to extend the network every year, in a structured and realistic manner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have the capacity to closely monitor and ascertain the existing value in that space, so it is possible to install the station, monitor it, preserve it and put conditions in place so that people can visit it,\u201d Pedro tells us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This range of initiatives has to be well publicised, in order to ensure that different stakeholders and people interested in these issues are able to take part. Therefore, Altri Florestal will be producing and publishing a themed video about the conservation areas and will provide an interactive map showing where the species are located throughout Altri Florestal\u2019s properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another goal is to have scientific research institutions analysing and studying the areas of eucalyptus forest. This habitat has not been greatly studied in Portugal. According to Pedro Serafim, the head of Altri Florestal\u2019s Biodiversity and Forest Certification, \u201cWe have been participating in the Biodiversity4All platform for 10 years, and we registered all the species and habitats that have been spotted. Our idea is to provide an incentive to our partners and to society in general to record more information on that platform,\u201d since opening up and sharing information is of mutual benefit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A cria\u00e7\u00e3o de uma rede de esta\u00e7\u00f5es de biodiversidade levou a que estes espa\u00e7os fossem monitorizados por forma a assumirem um valor relevante para a empresa e para a comunidade local. S\u00e3o espa\u00e7os que, apesar de se encontrarem em \u00e1reas geridas pela Altri Florestal, est\u00e3o abertos a entidades como institui\u00e7\u00f5es de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o, escolas ou visitantes de \u00e1reas naturais. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cH\u00e1 10 anos que participamos na plataforma Biodiversity4All, onde colocamos todos os nossos avistamentos de esp\u00e9cies e habitats. A nossa ideia \u00e9 incentivar os parceiros e a sociedade em geral a colocar mais informa\u00e7\u00e3o nessa plataforma\u201d, explica Pedro Serafim, respons\u00e1vel pela Certifica\u00e7\u00e3o Florestal e Biodiversidade da Altri Florestal, visto que a abertura e a partilha de informa\u00e7\u00e3o traz benef\u00edcios m\u00fatuos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Existem duas esta\u00e7\u00f5es de biodiversidade instaladas, uma est\u00e1 localizada na Quinta do Furadouro e a outra na Ribeira da Foz, em Const\u00e2ncia. Este ano s\u00e3o criadas duas novas esta\u00e7\u00f5es, uma no projeto Cabe\u00e7o Santo, em \u00c1gueda, onde existe uma parceria que tem 12 anos de colabora\u00e7\u00e3o com uma associa\u00e7\u00e3o local que faz o restauro da ribeira de Belazaima; e outra esta\u00e7\u00e3o de biodiversidade no Parque Natural da Serra de S\u00e3o Mamede, numa \u00e1rea chamada Palmeiro, junto \u00e0 fronteira com Espanha. Um local classificado pela Altri Florestal como tendo alto valor de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Os passos seguintes consistir\u00e3o em alargar a rede todos os anos, mas de forma estruturada e realista. \u201cTemos capacidade de monitorizar bem e perceber o valor existente nesse espa\u00e7o, por isso \u00e9 poss\u00edvel instalar a esta\u00e7\u00e3o, acompanh\u00e1-la, conserv\u00e1-la e criar condi\u00e7\u00f5es para que as pessoas a visitem\u201d, diz o respons\u00e1vel pela Certifica\u00e7\u00e3o Florestal e Biodiversidade da Altri Florestal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Para poder ter a participa\u00e7\u00e3o de diversas entidades e pessoas interessadas nestes temas \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio comunicar bem este conjunto de iniciativas. Nesse sentido, a Altri Florestal vai produzir e publicar um v\u00eddeo tem\u00e1tico das \u00e1reas de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o e disponibilizar um mapa interativo com a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o das esp\u00e9cies, mostrando onde est\u00e3o ao longo do patrim\u00f3nio da Altri Florestal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Outra ambi\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 ter institui\u00e7\u00f5es de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica a analisar e estudar as \u00e1reas de floresta de eucalipto. Um habitat pouco estudado em Portugal.
