It was the \u201cTypists\u2019 Room\u201d. And I loved typing things \u2013 extremely important things, of course, on those modern machines. Years later, laptops arrived, and the profession disappeared. Fast forward 40 years, and we have Artificial Intelligence and other technological phenomena that are pushing us into ever more disruptive changes. Today\u2019s changes are faster, more demanding, more complex\u2026 So much so that the World Economic Forum, in a projection for 2030, lists Adaptability as one of the intrapersonal skills expected to grow most in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But change is not a new thing. Heraclitus, the Greek philosopher, famously said around 600 B.C., \u201cThere is nothing permanent except change.\u201d Buddhists speak of the Law of Impermanence, which holds that all life phenomena are in constant flux, emerging and dissolving in a perpetual state of becoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has always been this way \u2013 and now, more than ever, change is part of life and a constant reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet change is not easy. Swapping the certain for the uncertain brings discomfort. Our brain doesn\u2019t like uncertainty. When faced with situations where it can\u2019t predict the outcome, it triggers survival mechanisms, activating fear and anxiety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand, or, if you drive, imagine doing so with the steering wheel on the right, driving on the left-hand side of the road\u2026 just thinking about it feels uncomfortable. That\u2019s what change is: uncomfortable. Swapping the familiar for the unknown, the automatic for the unfamiliar. It\u2019s the well-known expression: \u201cstepping out of your comfort zone.\u201d Change is hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you ask a group of people whether they want to change, many will say no. Ask the same group whether they want to improve, and the answers will be quite different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But how can we improve without changing? Improvement requires change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And how can we not change, if we want to achieve goals in life? If we want a new home? Children? A new professional experience? How can we not change, if we want to learn?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether we like it or not, change is necessary. So, if change is a constant, if it\u2019s uncomfortable but necessary, how can we make it our ally? How can we turn it into something that excites rather than frightens us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Something that teaches us, that deepens our self-awareness, that brings us sparkle and pride, that challenges and validates us, that helps us grow?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer is simple. Often, it\u2019s just a matter of shifting our perspective. Choosing the right lens, one of possibility and hope. The lens that lets us believe in ourselves and in others. The one that sees change as a challenge to embrace, something that makes us come alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer is simple, but not simplistic. This perspective has to come from within. It must be genuine and self-driven. Letting go of fears, doing what we can. Holding on to what matters and releasing what no longer serves us. Giving it our best. The journey of change is an adventure. Mas mudar n\u00e3o \u00e9 de agora. Famosa \u00e9 a frase de Her\u00e1clito, fil\u00f3sofo grego, em 600 A.C.: \u201cN\u00e3o h\u00e1 nada permanente, com exce\u00e7\u00e3o da mudan\u00e7a\u201d. Os budistas falam na Lei da Imperman\u00eancia, postulando que todos os fen\u00f3menos da vida est\u00e3o em cont\u00ednuo fluxo de movimento, manifestando-se e dissolvendo-se num eterno devir. Trocar o certo pelo incerto traz desconforto. O nosso c\u00e9rebro n\u00e3o gosta de lidar com incertezas. Perante situa\u00e7\u00f5es para as quais n\u00e3o consegue prever o desfecho, ativa mecanismos de sobreviv\u00eancia, acionando medo e ansiedade. Experimente simplesmente lavar os dentes com a m\u00e3o que n\u00e3o costuma usar, ou, se conduz, imagine-se a conduzir com o volante \u00e0 direita, circulando na faixa da esquerda\u2026 s\u00f3 de imaginar \u00e9 desconfort\u00e1vel. Mudar \u00e9 isso mesmo: desconfort\u00e1vel. Trocar o certo pelo incerto, o interiorizado pelo novo. \u00c9 a tal velha m\u00e1xima conhecida: \u201csair da zona de conforto\u201d. Se perguntarmos ao mesmo grupo se querem melhorar, a\u00ed as respostas s\u00e3o diferentes. Mas como \u00e9 poss\u00edvel melhorar sem mudar? Melhorar implica mudan\u00e7a. E, como n\u00e3o mudar, se queremos atingir objetivos ao longo da vida? Se queremos ter uma casa nova? Ou ter filhos? Ou ter uma experi\u00eancia profissional diferente? Como n\u00e3o mudar se queremos aprender? Como fazer deste processo algo que nos entusiasme ao inv\u00e9s de nos assustar? Algo que nos ensine, que promova o nosso autoconhecimento, que nos traga brilho e brio, que nos teste e que nos valide, que nos fa\u00e7a crescer?<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>A resposta \u00e9 simples.
