The company was left with no choice but to take legal action to set the record straight and to put an end to the efamatory comments which bear no resemblance to the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Celtejo has always complied with its environmental obligations and the Inspectorate-General of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Land Use Planning (IGAMAOT) itself highlighted Celtejo\u2019s good environmental record last December at the Assembly of the Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Over the five decades of its existence, the company has always had a special relationship with the Tagus, using the river as a source of the water it needs in its manufacture, and then putting its effluent back into the river once it has been suitably treated.<\/p>\n<p>Celtejo is currently in the process of investing 85 million euros to improve its production\u00a0 capacity and efficiency. This investment includes construction of a next generation IWWTP capable of guaranteeing continuing compliance with the quality requirements governing the effluent from its manufacturing.
